A BARROW school pupil had the experience of a lifetime after walking out with Liverpool FC as a team mascot.
Dougie Densley held the hand of Liverpool’s left-back Andrew Roberston as they faced SV Darmstadt 98 at Preston North End’s Deepdale Stadium on Monday for their last pre-season friendly.
The ten-year-old, who lives in Ormsgill, is an avid Liverpool fan – and has been playing for Hawcoat Juniors since March.
Dougie’s mum Chelsea Ballantyne entered her son into a competition to become a LFC mascot, never expecting to win the contest.

“He’ll remember this for the rest of his life. I’m glad he’s old enough to remember this experience," she said.
And Dougie – who is heading into Year 6 – absolutely loved the atmosphere inside the stadium, watching his team beat SV Darmstadt 98 3-1.
Chelsea said: “Dougie really enjoyed his experience - he managed to hold Robertson's hand going on to the pitch.
“He said he was very nervous. He got great seats and got a cracking video of Luis Diaz's goal. It was his first ever Liverpool match - he loved the atmosphere.”
