BARROW is gearing up to host a weekend of maritime excitement as it welcomes tall ships to its quayside next to Morrisons and ADEB site.
The town will also see marine commercial and historic vessels arriving on Saturday, August 5 and Sunday, August 6.
Open to the public from 11am to 5.30pm on both dates, this event will be a treat for maritime enthusiasts and families alike.
The tall ship Pelican of London is due to arrive in Barrow Town Quay early in the morning of August 5.
She will attend this year's Barrow Sea Festival and the public can climb aboard her for the duration of the festival.
Visitors are kindly requested to use the main entrance to the quayside via the Morrisons car park, following the signage and instructions provided by the event marshals.
Attendees will have the opportunity to marvel at the impressive tall ships.
The quayside will be abuzz with various information stalls, food and beverage vendors, face painting and live music.
A designated quayside art space will showcase art presented by Love Barrow Families and a regatta of smaller sailing boats beyond the quayside at the ADEB site.
Following the two-day festival, trainees from Kendal Sea Cadets and Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service Cadets, Merseyside Adventure Sailing Trust, Love Barrow Families plus other youngsters from within the community will then embark the Pelican for a five-day sail training voyage from Barrow to Dublin.
