VOLUNTEERS from The Well Communities worked with Marsh Street Arches and Gardens to install planters at Barrow train station.

The Well Communities is a non-profit organisation located across Cumbria. It gives support to people recovering from drug and alcohol addiction and involves them in employment training and social activities. It offers expertise to support people with issues such as reoffending, poor mental health, homelessness, learning difficulties and childhood abuse.

It was founded in 2012 by ex-offender and former drug addict David Higham with hubs in Barrow, Morecambe and Lancaster and sites in Kendal and Fleetwood.

Marsh Street Aches and Garden is a Community Interest Group. In November last year, it was one of only two recipients in Cumbria of a tree from The Queen's Green Canopy initiative. The group members planted it at the Green Heart Den, just off Marsh Street in Barrow.
