THE ladies of Barrow Rotary Club are holding their inaugural charity Golf Open at Dunnerholme Golf Club.
On Sunday August 6, the ladies will host a 4BBB event, meaning that competitors are paired and play as a team over 18 holes. The golf club will be open to serve tea, coffee and cakes throughout the day.
After the competition there will be a presentation in the clubhouse with prizes for the winners, as well as second and third places, plus bottles of champagne for whoever gets nearest the pin.
All the money made by the competition will go into the Rotary Club of Barrow Charitable Trust and will be used to support local charities and good causes across the community.
A Barrow Rotary spokesman said they are delighted to be able to use the course and facilities at Dunnerholme Golf Club.
The spokesman said: “We have been very kindly supported by the Club Council, Lady Captain and her Committee and the ladies from Dunnerholme, who are well known for their warm welcome and friendly hospitality.
“We are looking forward to meeting players from across the local area and hope those who are taking part have an enjoyable day.
“We also welcome the opportunity to establish this competition going forward as one that players from across the South of Cumbria and beyond have penciled in their calendar each year.”
There are currently 18 teams signed up to play but there are still a number of tee times available.
Players must be members of an affiliated golf club and the handicap index limit is 40. The price of play is £25 per pair.
