BARROW Raiders hooker Josh Wood has signed on for the 2024 season with a new one-year deal.

The former Salford and Wakefield player has made 48 appearances for Barrow scoring three tries.

Wood has been chased by several Championship clubs, and it was rumoured that Widnes had secured the services of the popular hooker.

Barrow Raiders head coach Paul Crarey said: "We are delighted that Josh has decided to stay with the club.

"He made it clear to us that he loved playing for Barrow, and would like to stay. We love having him around,

"He is a role model for all the players young and old.

"He is an absolute warrior On the field."

"It speaks volumes when so many other clubs wanted him, it's great news that he wants to stay with Barrow.”

The club also put on record its thanks to the 1895 club who continue to fund his signing and for all their donations.

27-year-old Wood on the Raiders website said: "The fans have been outstanding for me since I arrived, they have treated me like one of their own, that's one of the reasons I re-signed for Barrow."
