BAE Systems has addressed rumours that the company is buying Morrisons in Barrow.
Over the last two days the rumours have circulated on social media following comments that were allegedly made by an employee of the supermarket.
BAE bought properties that were previously occupied by Debenhams, WH Smith, Body Shop and The Sweet Emporium in January this year. This also included the top floor of the car park at the rear of Debenhams.
The project will refurbish and renovate the units to convert them into a modern multi-use facility.
This aims to build upon the vocational training and community investment provided by the firm.
In response to the Morrisons claims, a spokesperson for BAE said: "I can confirm BAE Systems is not buying Morrisons."
