Playcations are returning to Barrow in August, with new experiences for all the family to enjoy.

BarrowFull, a creative organisation working amongst the town’s thriving cultural scene, is programming the mini festivals for Barrovians to enjoy arts and culture in their local neighbourhoods.

Playcations are completely free family-friendly mini-festivals and will be held around the town.

Visit the Dock Museum from 11am-3pm on Friday August 4, and head to Cavendish Park on Barrow Island on Saturday 5, then Barrow Park Tuesday 8.

Playcations will be at Ormsgill Playing Field on Wednesday 9, Vickerstown Park on Walney Friday 11 and in the town centre around Portland Walk on Saturday August 12.

Different days will offer different activities, from VR experiences from Leo and Hyde to origami and papercrafts from artist Amy Williams.

Look out for Superstar Textiles with Danielle Chappers-Aspinwall, BarrowFull’s Artist-For-Change and sound-making machines with Full of Noises.

Watch Sticks and Stories puppet making with Theatre Factor, try Afro Brazilian Dance sessions or Uke Can Do It Ukelele Workshops from Alfie Bridgens, who appeared on Britain’s Got Talent last year.

There will be making and creation sessions from Art Gene, Tori Davis and Signal Film and Media plus more.

There will be live music at 3pm from Flynt’s Emma Dockray every day except 4 August, when there will a children’s folk music sharing from Lake District Summer Festival at The Dock Museum.

BarrowFull’s mission is to ensure that everyone has access to great creative opportunities in their local area, Daniel Tyler-McTighe, Director of BarrowFull, said: “The Playcations have been really popular over the past two years, so we’re bringing them back but changing the kinds of things we’ve got on offer. We do hope everyone will come and support, especially those who haven’t been before. We’re a very welcoming team and we know everyone will have a great time.”
