Hindpool Tigers ARLFC under 12s team narrowly missed out on winning the Cumbria Cup Final.
After beating Hensingham 68 points to nil, Hindpool faced Wath Brow in the final.
At Sunday’s match Hindpool scored two tries through Connor Morgan and Archy Wood and began to look like they could snatch the win before they ran out of time.
Wath Brow Hornets won 14-10.
Hindpool Tigers ARLFC coach Graham Shaw said it wasn’t their day but everyone should 'hold their heads high'.
He explained that last year Hindpool’s under 12 team was very small.
He said: “To get a squad together we had to recruit a number of new players who were complete novices. As a club we are extremely proud of the boy’s efforts. They have reached our first county cup final in 25 years. The way they conduct themselves in victory and defeat is also something to be proud of.”
Hindpool’s man of the match for the BARLA under 12 Cumbria Cup final went to Connor Morgan who put in a “top” performance, crossing for a try which he converted himself.
Graham said: “Connor has endless energy and covers every inch of the pitch weekly, he’s having a great season."
The Tigers have 21 under-12 players, who are coached by Graham, Brad Wrightwebb and Martin Kennedy.
