THE police have said that the 999 emergency number is now working again in Cumbria after a spell of not connecting.
"Following the technical failure with the 999 emergency contact number, we are now receiving 999 calls," they said.
"In an emergency please call 999.
"In a non-emergency you can report online - Report a crime | Cumbria Police or alternatively 101."
Earlier advice from police had suggested the use of 101 in emergencies but the 'technical fault' has now been resolved.
