A MUSIC group from Barrow had the chance to jam with Basil Brush at Glastonbury.

The Ukulele Thrash Mob joined Zoe Ball’s Radio 2 Breakfast Show on Friday.

The group, who are performing at the Theatre and Circus fields across the six-day festival, had the opportunity to perform Elton John's Crocodile Rock with their ukuleles.

Zoe Ball said: "Some men have turned up with ukuleles. They look rather fabulous.

"If you are not on the stage with Elton John on Sunday night, something has gone horribly wrong. We love you guys. Absolutely magnificent."

During the day the group also had the opportunity to jam with the famous puppet Basil Brush that was dressed as Sir Elton.

Band member Gary Bridgens: "We had a very nice time and we really enjoyed ourselves. We even had a jam with Basil Brush.

"It was all very Rock n'Roll, and Zoe was very nice, so we had a good time with her.

"The atmosphere is fabulous."

Alfred Bridgens said: "It is my first time working at Glastonbury with The Ukelele Trashmob.

"This morning on the Radio Show we had a very good experience and got to meet Basil Brush and Zoe Ball and the lead singer of Texas, who gave me some advice on hay fever."

The Ukulele Thrash Mob includes Gary (Gacko) Bridgens, Jake (Shabby Bonnet Man) Rodrigues, Alfred (The Colt) Bridgens, Dieter (Strummer) Wadeson, Alex (Makka) McCormack.

The members are from Barrow, Walney Island and Isle of Wight.

The group from Barrow will be performing across the weekend.
