TRAIN users said they were 'gutted' after it was revealed Northern is making changes to onboard announcements and will finally fix the mispronunciation of Roose station.

Abbé Docherty said: “They can’t do that it’s a northern tradition,” and Sophie Pickering said: “That will be so weird!”

Kay Jeffries said: “Aww they can’t change it now. Always a giggle,” and Graeme Lee said: “Aw ‘ruus’ is a classic! Been doing it at least 35 years on various trains! Will miss it."

Dawn Mccarthy was disappointed to hear about the change, saying: “Aww.... leave it, as I love it as it is, it’s funny.”

Harvey Cook said he was 'gutted' to hear that the announcement would be changing.

Nicole Thorburn-Wilson said the way Roose is said is an 'absolute pet hate of mine'.

Luckily, Derek Brook was on the train when he found out about the change and took a final recording of the mispronunciation. He said: “May never hear this again...”

Claire Purcell said she hasn’t been on a train for years and asked what was wrong with the way Roose was pronounced, saying: “I don’t even know what it says wrong!”

Vera Langhorn explained why everyone disagrees with the way Roose is said by the train announcement: “They say it to rhyme with goose!”

Jan Downing said: “I will tell my mam,” and Elysia Benn said it is “about time” the announcement was sorted.

Kelly Holland said that changing the announcement was good but it would 'be nice if they could make the trains turn up now'.Carol Stephenson said: “Always make us laugh when they say it wrong,” and Maggie Pease said it is 'about time' they corrected the mistake.
