BARROW AFC fans have reacted to the departure of 2022/23 top-scorer Josh Gordon.

The forward, who scored 15 goals for the Bluebirds, will join Dino Maamria's Burton Albion at the expiry of his current contract despite Barrow's effort to agree on fresh terms with the striker.

In the wake of the news, the Bluebirds faithful have had their say on the deal which sees Barrow's most prolific goalscorer from their historic 22/23 League Two season depart the club.

Katherine Herbert said: "I wish him all the luck in the world. He’s a lovely lad and what more can we say

"Apart from thanks for everything."

David Newby Swivel said: "Obvious he was leaving when he didn't sign a new contract when given one all the best to him pity we didn't get a fee for him.

"Hope the board has somebody lined up to score 15 to 20 goals."

Michael Docherty said: "He will be missed.

"I hope the club has somebody lined up to replace him.

"We have now lost him, Kay, and Brough, not to mention two good loanees.

"After such a good start last season, I think it's going to be much more difficult this season, with all the big spending sides now in this league.

"I suppose we just have to rely on Pete Wild and the board finding suitable replacements.

"We will soon know one way or another."

Amber Herbert said: "Absolutely gutted but he will do well and we wish him all the best."

Adrian Norris said: "Good footballing brain, and plenty of pace, should do well in League One.

"His only limitation was lack of height.

"Forecast bottom half of table this season, anything higher would be a major achievement."
