A CONTEMPORARY artist is returning to the Lake District with a major exhibition featuring over 60 hand-crafted pieces.
Halima Cassell returns to Blackwell this summer with a major exhibition titled Reflections.
The show will feature over 60 beautifully hand-crafted pieces created from clay, bronze, marble, wood and paper over the past twenty-five years.
Born in Kashmir, Halima Cassell grew up in Lancashire.
Following her exhibition and book Light Structures at Blackwell- the Arts & Crafts house in 2011, Cassell has been awarded an MBE for her services to art and has had her work displayed in museums and galleries, including the V&A, The Hepworth Wakefield and Birmingham Art Gallery as well as in Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong, Jordan and Mumbai.
Cassell’s return to Cumbria offers visitors the rare opportunity to encounter a comprehensive body of work displayed throughout Blackwell's halls, rooms and exhibition spaces.
Cassell’s sculptures will be on show at Blackwell alongside her preparatory drawings, sketchbooks, collages and wallpapers.
Her work will be in exhibition from July 8 2023 until January 1 2024.
