Entries for the Tour De Furness are now open.

Take in some of the most breathtaking scenery the Furness peninsula has to offer and sign up for the Tour de Furness on Sunday September 3.

The Tour de Furness is organised by the Rotary Club of Furness to raise money for St Mary’s Hospice and other causes.

There are three different courses so cyclists of all abilities can join in, have fun and raise money for charities of their choice.

The 12.7 mile route mainly takes you through quiet countryside and along the Coast Road. It appeals to family groups and is perfect for a leisurely cycle.

The 23 mile route goes through Low Furness, and is the perfect middle ground, while the “Lakeland BLUEBIRD 50” is a 50-mile route for cycling enthusiasts that takes you through the South Lakes to Coniston and back.

Cyclists will have a staggered start. 50 mile riders can start as soon as they register from 7am, 23 mile riders can start from 8am and the 11 mile riders from 8:30am. At 10am, the five-mile Family Fun ride starts.

The Tour de Furness starts and finishes at Roose Conservative Club on Leece Lane in Barrow.

Everyone who completes a route will be awarded a certificate and commemorative medal, and the team which raises the most money will be awarded the Bill Bartlett Memorial Trophy.

The money raised will go to St Mary’s Hospice, The NHS Morecambe Bay Hospitals Charity, Rotary Club of Furness Charitable Trust or your nominated charity.

Furness Rotary Club is also looking for volunteers to help on the day. If you can lend a hand, head to their volunteer page.
