A NEW shop has been opened to help the community in the cost-of-living crisis.

Millom Network Centre opened the doors of its sister shop at 14 Wellington Street, in Millom, on Tuesday.

This new shop will allow the centre to concentrate on offering a wider range of pre-loved clothing, bric-a-brac and other items with all to be priced at £1 or less.

Visitors are welcome to donate items to the shop.

Sue Dust, office manager at Millom Network Centre, said: "Once again this shop will allow us to raise more funds to enable Millom Network Centre to continue in the vital work they do within the community.

"It is yet another fantastic opportunity to serve the people of Millom given the economic times that we are all facing, but wouldn't be possible without the sheer hard work and dedication of all our volunteers."

Currently, they can only accept cash payments until they have their systems in place.

The opening hours and days are on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9am until 3pm.

In March, Millom Network Centre opened a new community shop after the cancellation of their pantry service.

The Food Pantry was forced to shut down due to the lack of available food due to lack of availability of food supplies from Preston Foodshare.

The shop, that offers food at affordable prices to the Millom community, is based at Unit three on the Devonshire Industrial Estate on Devonshire Road.

Millom Network Centre is a charity based out of Millom and dedicated to helping improve the lives of the local community.

Their projects include helping people through second-hand furniture sales, workshops where volunteers can learn woodworking, upcycle furniture or work on personal projects, and their award-winning STEM club to teach kids about science and technology.
