BARROW has celebrated independent traders as part of an international campaign throughout the month of May.
For the past two weeks Barrow Market Hall traders commemorated the campaign Love Your Local Market 2023.
The campaign, which occurred in Barrow for the twelfth time, celebrates markets and aims to provide opportunities for new businesses to try their hand at market trading for free or at discounted rates.
It took place in the UK from Friday May 12 to Saturday May 27 and has now been embraced by over 24 countries.
The celebrations started with a Barrow Male Voice Choir concert, with Furness Pride and a performance by St Columba's School Choir.
Dino Day brought the crowds to the market and Barrow Market Hall sponsored Ranger Training on the outdoor market.
CAST Theatre Company sang songs from their latest production of School of Rock on May 20 and the local musician David Duffin performed on May 26.
As part of the campaign, visitors to the market were encouraged to post photos and comments on the Barrow Market Hall Facebook page as well as their own personal Facebook page using the hashtag #LYLM2023.
Jacqui Armstrong, of Barrow Market, said: "It's been incredible, and we would like to say a heartfelt thank you for their support and for making Love Your Local Market 2023 a memorable celebration.
"Barrow Market Hall is looking forward to a £17.5 million transformation from the Levelling Up Fund - there are lots to look forward to in the near future.
"Our incredible 38 local independent businesses that makeup Barrow Market Hall are looking forward to serving you. Their message to the local community during Love Your Local Market Fortnight is to please keep supporting their businesses throughout the renovations."
Barrow Market Hall is open every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 9am until 5pm.
