TALENTED Millom-based balloon artists are taking part in the next Big Balloon Build.

Sharon Platt and Steve Skelham of Creative Decor by Sharon’s Balloons will be travelling to London this December as two of 75 balloon artists taking part in the mammoth build.

Directed by Stuart Davies, Big Balloon Builds transform large spaces with the creative use of balloons.

Each build tells its own story and is built to provide a special event platform to be used by a charitable organization for promotional and advertising purposes.

The charities use the builds to raise funds and awareness about their cause and mission.

Sharon and Steven have been honoured to be a part of the Big Balloon Build team twice.

This year will be the third time that they have participated. One event that the pair have participated in previously was in Birmingham in 2021.

The team worked with a theatre production company who performed The Nutcracker amongst the scenery.

Sharon and Steve were among 60 balloon artists who used more than 80,000 balloons to create the scene.

This year’s build is set to benefit 30 different charities.

Sharon said: “We are so excited to be chosen to take part in this build out of 250 plus international builders.

“It’s a bit mental. We’re fighting with the world – whoever gets a place is lucky.

“We learn new skills, teamwork, meet new ‘balloonies’ from around the world and our network becomes worldwide... using balloons as a power for good!

“Creative Decor by Sharon's Balloons was created in 2004 and we have worked with many companies ranging from Harley Davidson to Tesco and everything in between.  We have decorated weddings, birthdays and much more in our time.

“Two weeks ago we decorated a young ladies 18th birthday... why is this special you ask?  Our first event was her mam and dad’s wedding.

“Next year will be our 20th anniversary!”
