ULVERSTON Town Council has voted Michelle Scrogham to retain her role as mayor.
The Labour councillor became mayor of Ulverston on May 23 2022, taking over from Cllr Bob Brown. The council voted on whether she should remain in her position on Monday May 22 2023.
Cllr Scorgham is the owner of the fashion boutique Pure in the town centre.
Since she became mayor last year, she has performed a number of public-facing duties such as decorating the Christmas tree and opening up festivals and events in the town. She is also the chairperson for Ulverston Business Improvement District.
In April she was chosen as the Labour candidate to fight the next general election in the Barrow and Furness constituency.
Also on the committee for the town council are Cllr David Webster as deputy mayor and Cllr Mark Wilson as council leader.
