A BARROW man has received a driving disqualification after being found guilty of drug driving.
Darren Warder, 44, of Whinney Ends has been found guilty of drug driving and has been handed a fine and disqualification from driving.
The incident occurred on January 22, 2023, when Warder was caught driving a Vauxhall Zafira on the A590 at Lindale Hill with a proportion of a controlled drug, namely Benzoylecgonine (BZE), in his blood that exceeded the specified limit.
The proportion of the drug in his blood measured 651 micrograms.
Warder pleaded guilty to the charge on May 11 and was sentenced on the same day at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court.
He was fined £120 and was ordered to pay £85 as costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and £48 as surcharge. Warder will also have to pay the fine in monthly instalments of £50, starting from June 8, 2023.
Furthermore, Warder has been disqualified from driving for 12 months. His guilty plea was taken into account while delivering the sentence.
