TWO sisters are taking on the Keswick to Barrow walk for the 15th year in a row.
Clare Feeney-Johnson, 54, and her sister Sara Fullalove, 55, are taking to the 40-mile walk to raise funds for a local hospice.
The Kendal sisters did their first challenge together 16 years ago, completing the Breakthrough Breast Cancer in Birmingham.
Clare said: “We thought we needed to make more effort to spend time together so we thought we would do a challenge together every year, and for as long as we can do it, we will.
“We did the Birmingham challenge and we had so much fun.
“The year after we stumbled across the Keswick to Barrow and so we did that for the first time.
“It’s that sense of achievement when you finish, that overwhelming sense of challenge. It is almost addictive.”
The sisters are preparing to take on the charity walk for the 15 times on Saturday, May 13.
Clare said: “I’m always nervous because you know what’s coming when you’ve done it so many times - I don’t know whether that’s a good or a bad thing.
“But I’m excited to get it over and done with and get number 15 in the bag.
“This year we are walking for St John’s Hospice. We’ve done a couple years for St Mary’s Hospice as well.
“Raising money for charity is key and over the years we’ve done a lot for different charities.”
The pair have so far raised £500 between them for this year’s walk.
The event has become a family affair with Clare’s son and his uncle taking part in the Coniston to Barrow too.
