THE second 'twilight market' was bigger and better than the first.
Yesterday evening, Friday April 28, Barrow Market Hall hosted its second twilight event with several new stalls, live entertainment and fresh food and drink.
Sir Woofchester’s returned to the second market event. The Barrow-based dog food company caters for 'classy pooches' with gasto-pub themed snacks, treats and dinners.
David Bride, the owner of Woofchester’s, said they supply all the way from Lands’ End to John o' Groats and said there is a 'doggy dessert' coming soon.
Wolftown gin and Kickass cheese also returned after attending the first twilight event.
Coastline Brewery were new to the market. The company from Walney were selling real ale, blond and stout as well as a spiced rum.
Daniel Mulgrew from Coastline Brewery said: “We’re doing really well; it’s been a good event. We are showing off the brews you can buy online or at the King Alfred bar.”
The Tipsy Mare made their first visit to the market. The portable bar service normally appears out of a little blue trailer selling gin and prosecco cocktails at Cartmel Racing events and Holker Hall festivals.
The owner, Lewis Bird, said the market had a good atmosphere: “It’s been really great, I think this is what a market should be!
"The evening has been really enjoyable and definitely worth coming.”
Usually found on Ulverston Market every Saturday, Yummy Delicious was selling homemade cakes in Barrow Market Hall for the first time.
Sally makes all her own sweet treats and sells celebration cakes from home, she said: “It’s been really busy, we’ve nearly sold out! I’ve really enjoyed the Twilight Market, and everyone’s been super friendly, we would definitely like to come back again.”
Webber’s offered a sample of best sellers from their food van, including beef brisket and pulled pork burgers, roast dinner in a Yorkshire pudding wraps and bubble and squeak.
Andy Webber and Bobby Turnbull own the food van, which is based on the Escape Hotel car park.
The pair said: “The market has been really, really good, surprisingly busy! We usually get our regulars coming over from BAE for our burritos and tacos, we’re known for our freshness, everything is cooked to order.”
