A NEW chippy has opened in the heart of a town centre for fans of the traditional dish.
Golden Fry, located at 39 Crellin Street in Barrow, opened its doors for the first time on April 4.
Christos Alexandrou, the owner of the business, has more than 51 years of experience in the business and currently owns 39 shops including in Walney, Millom, Ulverston and Askam.

He said: "I'm very excited. I always wanted to come to Barrow and I am expecting to have the shop quite busy.
"I have put all the prices down. We will be offering fresh fish and chips for the first month at £5.60 for customers to save 20% off the VAT and by us not using Just Eat or Barrow Eats I save an extra 10%.
"Fresh fish has gone very expensive. I have been doing business for 51 years and I don't remember any prices like this and that is why everybody is selling frozen fish, except me.
"I get the fish delivered every single day from Procter based in Morecambe."
The owner said the feedback from the customers had been good.
He added: "I did a good preparation to check the potatoes, to check the fish, to check all my equipment because the quality depends on the equipment as well."
Apart from fish and chips, the shop will be offering the usual food items including chicken nuggets, fish cakes, sausages and burgers.
Golden Fry is closed on Mondays and is open for the public from Tuesday to Saturday from 11:30 am until 1:30 pm and in the evening from 4:30pm until 9pm.
On Sunday it opens only for the evening from 4:30pm until 9pm.
