THE UK's original mountain rescue team carried out its 16th callout of the year on Good Friday as a lady fell ill while hiking a popular walking route.
As legions of walkers began to head out to enjoy a sunny Easter weekend, eleven Coniston Mountain Rescue Team volunteers donned their equipment to rush to the assistance of the lady at Tarn Hows, around two miles northeast of Coniston.
The call came at 12.25 pm, as the lady's fellow walkers phoned for help as she had a 'medical issue'
The team posted: "North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) asked us to assist, and we were able to drive a Land Rover around the Tarn directly to her location.
"She was assessed, and it was determined that the best course of action was for her to be transferred to hospital for checks.
"We drove her to our base after requesting a land ambulance.

"However, after a comprehensive set of observations was carried out by the NWAS paramedics, they released the lady with plenty of advice should she feel unwell again.
"11 volunteer members attended for three and a half hours."
