A COUPLE raced into each other's hearts after meeting at a car rally event nearly ten years ago.
Lauren Bottomley, a 27-year-old student support worker at Beaumont College, has married 28-year-old mechanic Arron Newby.
Lauren, who is originally from Morecambe, and Arron, who is from Carnforth, first met through car rallying: Arron was racing and Lauren was spectating in 2014.
The pair became engaged on July 14 2018 at Disney World Florida.
"I had always loved Disney and went a lot as a child, but it was Arron's first visit," said Lauren.
"It was the first night we had arrived and Arron pushed for us to go watch the fireworks where he got down on one knee."
The lovestruck pair tied the knot at the Low Wood Bay Resort and Spa in Windermere alongside their nearest and dearest on July 23.
The wedding was originally due to take place on May 1 2021 but was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Lauren said: "It was an absolutely beautiful venue. The wedding team were perfect and couldn't have been more helpful.
"The ceremony was perfect, short and sweet, just how we wanted it.
"We were given a full menu that we narrowed down to three options that the guests were able to choose from.
"Each of them were delicious. Arron and I got whisked away at the end of the wedding breakfast by the photographer Josh as there was a break in the rain to get some photos outside on the lake.
"Even more of our friends arrived for the evening do. We had a band (Hipster- Alive Network), a selfie mirror with props (picture blast), pick and mix table and a whole lot of blow up guitars.
"It was torrential rain all day but we made the most of it and embraced the weather and got the perfect photos to treasure forever."
For their honeymoon, the newlyweds travelled to Scotland and are planning on returning to Disney World this summer.
They said: "We were lucky as Arron's mum owns a lodge near Gretna Green that she let us use for a few nights away after the wedding as our mini-moon.
"We're also going back to Disney World in July to the same place where we stayed when we got engaged. We will be there for our first anniversary- we can't wait!"
