Cumbrian brothers have been named in the top 50 of the most influential Northern hospitality leaders.

Ryan and Craig Blackburn are the brothers behind Michelin-starred restaurant Old Stamp House, Ambleside.

They have been included in the Kuits NRB Top Fifty Power List 2023 which was announced at Northern Restaurant and Bar, in Manchester.

Judged by a panel of hospitality experts in the north of England, the list recognises operators who have excelled commercially and critically in the last year.

Three special awards were also revealed, recognising businesses that have had a successful year.

Ryan Blackburn said: ''Craig and I are always a little bit taken aback when you receive recognition for what we do every day.

"We are both incredibly passionate about what we do, and we believe in constantly evolving and developing what we do. Hospitality has faced and is facing lots of challenges at the moment, but this recognition is testament to the fact that hard work and determination pays off, especially when you have an equally dedicated team on that journey with you.

"So, congratulations to everyone that features in this year’s list and keep doing what you are doing in helping to make the north of England the UK’s leading vibrant dining destination.''

Chris Brazier, Group Event Director for Northern Restaurant & Bar, said: ''This year's list has revealed a steady churn of operators, with an influx of new entrants. While challenges remain for industry, it's great to see the tone changing from one of resilience and survival to one of ambition and opportunity for some operators.

"There are new Gastropubs, hotels, Michelin-starred restaurants, casual dining operators and experiential leisure sites to be congratulated and watched now and in the future.

"Many operators are saying that the start to the year has been above expectations in the face of evolving consumer behaviour, but also down to tenacity and talent of Northern Hospitality operators. Let us all hope that this continues, and we see an exciting period of launches, expansion, and innovation throughout 2023.''
