READERS have praised the Barrow women who have inspired them the most on International Women's Day.

From nursery staff and music teachers to post office workers, you nominated women in their droves who deserve recognition.

Megan Hawkes said: "Clare Johnson from Ramsden Robins. Never fails to provide a kind word or support when working her bottom off at the nursery. In this day and age, it's the hardest, most underfunded and undervalued job around. She is amazing."

Mags Sheonoin said: "Sheila Fawcett for her huge contribution to music within the Furness area. She is a woman who gives and gives, and she doesn't care whether you're rich or poor, talented or musically challenged; if you put the effort in and enjoy yourself, she's behind you. A truly inspirational woman and a huge asset to Barrow in Furness."
