BARROW Raiders' Greg Worthington has reflected on a landmark career try.

The Raiders centre scored his 100th career try in the 20-18 defeat against Swinton Lions in the latest round of Betfred Championship action.

Worthington scored his first try for the club at Heywood Road after joining from the Halifax Panthers during the off-season.

Speaking to the club's website after the game, Worthington reflected on the achievement but admitted the the sting of defeat did dampen his celebrations.

He said: "It’s obviously a nice little milestone for myself, but in terms of the bigger picture it’s not a good result at all today.

"We had the game won, and we gave it away at the end."

Worthington also stressed that the Raiders would have to learn from their defeat against Swinton.

He said: "There are some lessons that need to be learned, and the good thing about rugby league is that we get to try and make it right next week.

"We go to York, and hopefully we’ll put on a performance."

Worthington's landmark try was the Raiders' second in the match against the Swinton Lions after Shane Toal had commenced the try-scoring.

With 10 minutes to go the Raiders looked to have claimed victory following a Ryan Johnston effort which made the score 18-10.

However, responses from Josh Eaves and a winner from Jordan Gibson in the final two minutes snatched victory for the Lions.
