NEWSQUEST’S prestigious in-Cumbria magazine will be hosting its first South Cumbria networking event this week.
On the back of hugely successful events held in Carlisle, the in-Cumbria team is celebrating as the magazine heads towards its 100th edition.
The inaugural get-together at Carus Green in Kendal will take place on Thursday, February 16 from 5pm and every third Thursday of the month moving forward.
Businesses are invited to join us in an informal setting in a stunning location and take the opportunity to meet new people as well as take the time to connect with established contacts.
Our networking events are free to attend – you just need to let us know you’ll be attending by visiting our website at www.in-cumbria.com and clicking onto the networking events tab where you will be taken to the venue and date.
We have four leaders who will taking to our soapbox for 90 seconds to introduce themselves and their businesses.
They are Claire McLean, founder and CEO of Realise HR; Natalie Barker, founder and virtual assistant for M&M Business Support; Brendan Donnelly, managing director of Coniston Stonecraft and Joan Lind, managing director of trybooking.com
We also have a fabulous partner in Grasmere Gingerbread. Yasmine Hunter, sales and marketing manager, will be joining us to say a few words about the family-run business and to share some delicious samples.

Emily Wood, Newsquest and LocaliQ’s Cumbria’s sales director, said: “We're delighted to be launching 'in-Cumbria at Carus Green' which will be our first South Cumbria-based monthly event. We hope many local businesses will join us for a relaxed and informal opportunity to network. Our North Cumbria event at The Halston is now six-months-old and the feedback has been incredibly positive. However, we have been conscious of the wealth of South Cumbrian-based businesses that might be missing out! Our emphasis is on inclusivity and accessibility - it's free and everyone is welcome, so please sign up to secure your place.”

We will have a photographer join us on the night to provide content for our in-Cumbria magazine as well as our online and print titles across Cumbria including The Mail, Westmorland Gazette, The Cumberland News, the News & Star, Times & Star and Whitehaven News.
Joy Yates, Newsquest’s regional editor for Cumbria, said: “After introducing the monthly networking events in North Cumbria to mark the relaunch of in-Cumbria magazine in August, we have been asked numerous times if a South Cumbria event was possible. And, yes, it is. I’m looking forward to making many new contacts and I’m also delighted to hear that some of our networkers from The Halston event will be joining us to extend their networks even further.
“We’ve got the first of our soapbox stars taking to the ‘stage’ and we’ll end with our networking selfie, that’s become customary at our evenings, for publication in our brands and on LinkedIn. We also encourage and welcome everyone to join in the LinkedIn activity that we have enjoyed since last year.”
