THE wedding date of one smitten couple was particularly special for the bride and groom who married in front of just 18 people.

Lauren Scott, a digital marketing executive, and Andrew Crellen, who owns a bathroom business, have married in an intimate Lakes ceremony.

The lovestruck couple first met through work and formed an instant friendship.

"I loved how easily we found just being around each other," Lauren said.

"We have a lot of common interests and work really well as a team."

The pair met on October 17 2021 at the NFL Jaguars versus Dolphins' game in London.

"It definitely was a surprise," Lauren said.

"Although there were thousands of people there, it was still very intimate and personal.

The couple got married on January 19 at the Cragwood Country House Hotel in Windermere alongside just 18 of their loved ones.

Lauren said: "We got married on the fourth anniversary of my father's passing, which was also the same day my parents married in 1991.

"We wanted to give that date a full circle moment and turn the memory of the day from bad to good again, part of this included having a day that was solely about our love for each other and being surrounded by our closest family and friends without the obligation of a huge wedding.

"We wanted simple, relaxed and personal to us. With the wedding being smaller all of our guests arrived on the 18th and were treated to a two night's stay and all meals included as part of the wedding package the Cragwood provided.

"The weather was a perfect January day, in fact better than that with blissful sunshine and a clear sky.

"At the ceremony the bridal party walked down the aisle to 'When I fall in love by Nat King Cole played on violin by Adam at Violinaround, this song was chosen as it was a song featured in my dad's funeral.

"We swapped out a traditional wedding breakfast for afternoon tea in the relaxed setting of the library and for the evening meal, we all tucked in to a roast chicken dinner and traditional sticky toffee pudding or chocolate mousse for dessert.

"The speeches were done by the maid of honour Stef, my brother Luke who filled in for the father of the bride and of course Andrew, the groom. And our first dance was held outside in private to Luke Combes 'Forever After All', the Cragwood have a lovely pagoda that it was held in and was absolutely perfect."

The newlyweds had to return to normal life quickly after the wedding to attend to their five dogs, however they're planning a honeymoon in Greece later on this year.
