A MAN falsely accused of rape by Eleanor Williams has opened up on how her claims 'ruined' his life.

Jordan Trengove was arrested in 2019 after the defendant claimed he sexually assaulted her on three occasions, including a violent attack at her home.

Charged with rape, he spent ten weeks on remand at Preston prison - sharing a cell with a child sex offender - before he was eventually released and the charges were dropped.

Williams, 22, was convicted of nine counts of perverting the course of justice, including three relating to Mr Trengove.

The 22-year-old dad, who now lives in Ulverston, said he was 'over the moon' to hear the verdict when he attended Preston Crown Court.

Prior to that he faced more than three years of threats, abuse and mental health struggles, he said.

"When I was in court I didn't want to look at her. I only had one quick glance", he said.

"I didn't want to look in that direction, for the simple fact that she ruined my life."

"I'll never ever forgive her for anything.

"The only thing I want to know is why she did what she did."

Williams claimed that Mr Trengove raped her at a friend's house after a night out and on two other occasions at her flat on Barrow lsland.

The court heard that on one of the nights in question, he had been taken home by the police around the time he was said to have assaulted the defendant.

On another he said he had been at home playing video games all night. Others in the house told the court he had not gone out.

Jurors were told how Williams had used Snapchat messages apparently sent by Mr Trengove - in which he confessed to assaulting her - as evidence he had raped her.

But police found accounts used to send the messages had been created using the wi-fi at an address in Walney's Teasdale Road - the defendant's family home.

Describing his arrest, he said: "I was shocked. I felt humiliated. It's not something you want to be arrested for.

"From that moment I knew my life was over. I felt disgusted in myself. I thought how has this happened to me."

Mr Trengove is now trying to rebuild his life following the verdict.

He said: "I feel like I can move forward.

"I said to my missus this year's going to be our year.

"I just want to live my life, not live in misery."
