A THAI restaurant has been put on the market after closing its doors earlier this summer, Baan Siam Thai Cuisine in Dalton Road, Barrow is currently listed for sale at £99,000.
According to the property listing, Barrow Borough Council has confirmed approval to convert the first and second floors of the premises into self-contained one bedroom flats.
We asked what everyone would like to see replace the former Thai restaurant, and here's what they said...
Mark Williams said: “I’d like to see the whole of Dalton Road redeveloped into a better mixture of residential and retail. With a significant reduction in business rates offset by council tax.”
A few people suggested that the old Thai should be replaced by a new Thai. David Hatton said he’d like the space to be a: “Thai,” and Kelly Holland agreed, saying: “Gutted. Best Thai in barrow, love it.”
Geoff Quirk said he would like to see the space turned into: “A kebab shop.”
And John Owen said he would like to see a: “Coffee shop.”
Andy Bickle and Dave Probert both said: “Primark,” and “Primark, obviously,” but Lynda Warriner disagreed, saying: “I think Barrow deserves something better than a Primark!”
Greg Rose quipped: “Charity shop, nail bar or barbers shop, the town is crying out for them."
Paul Lowe said he would like to see: “Free parking," and Dave Hughes agreed, saying: “A car park please.”
And Lee-scott Gardiner said he wants: “A 24/7 365 Christmas Shop.”
