A BARROW man documenting his life-changing weight loss journey has braved going topless.

54-year-old Charlie Walduck, who now lives in Manchester but remains a firm Barrow AFC fan, once weighed in at more than 50st but underwent an incredible transformation with the help of ITV’s This Morning almost two decades ago, managing to get down to 13-and-a-half stone.

But after the weight crept back on, Charlie made the decision to ‘put himself out there’ by documenting his current weight-loss journey on YouTube.

The Mail:

Since starting the YouTube channel Charlie's Last Chance to Beat Obesity, Lose Weight, Charlie has lost an incredible 50lbs in just 13 weeks.

He created the channel to have a sense of accountability in documenting his journey and to inspire others.

In a recent video, Charlie chose to ditch his kit and braved going nude.

Explaining why he chose to do this after fourteen weeks of contemplation, he said: “Because I find it incredibly hard and incredibly embarrassing.

“I feel like deleting it right now because it’s embarrassing, I’m ashamed of myself, I’m ashamed of how I let my body get, I feel disgusting, I feel people will look at it and think ‘how disgusting’ – but that is me.”

Although disagreeing with the term brave, Charlie spoke of the huge courage it took to post the video.

The Mail:

He said: “I don’t want to use the word brave because brave is for people that do amazing things, taking my top off isn’t brave but for me it’s a massive thing to do!

“I think it’s important to show what my body looks like underneath my clothes so other people can perhaps not feel as embarrassed about showing their bodies off.

“If you’ve got social media or Instagram, you look at people on there and they’ve all got the perfect bodies and they all look amazing, and it’s what we all aspire to. But, real people aren’t like that, real people have bumps and lumps and it’s something that I’ve just thought if I show that then people will feel encouraged by that.

“I know I’m one extreme but there’s no one out there that wouldn’t be embarrassed about taking their clothes off in front of the camera and I think it is a difficult thing for a lot of people to do.”
