HAIRY Biker Dave Myers has received a heart-warming early Christmas present from co-star and best friend Si King.

The Barrow-born chef has faced a tough year, undergoing chemotherapy in his battle against cancer, revealing his diagnosis to fans earlier this year.

However, despite this, Dave recently said it has been a ‘great year for baking’, writing a new Hairy Biker book Brilliant Bakes.

Cumbrian Dave decided to share his joy in a video with fans.

“Merry Christmas, it has been a great year for baking,” said Dave. “And obviously with our book Brilliant Bakes I’ve had time to eat it and cook it – but I’m not the only one who has been baking.

“When we did Saturday Kitchen, there was a surprise from my brother from another mother, a Christmas cake for me.

“Three kilos of Christmas cake!”

The cake was made by Si and his partner, sticking to a recipe by Si’s own mother.

Dave said: “Now, I don’t like marzipan, I don’t like icing. This is what I like – fruit, booze, and a smell of Christmas.

“And you know what, by God my buddy can bake. So can his partner mind, she’s clever too.

“Merry Christmas everybody!”

The Saturday Kitchen appearance earlier this month marked the first time Dave had been on TV since his cancer diagnosis.

Speaking on a recent episode of The Hairy Biker’s Agony Uncles podcast, Dave said of Saturday Kitchen: “It was my first outing you know. I’m feeling better, my hair is coming back and to be there with Kingy was truly special.”

Dave said that after making ‘a little speech’ on the show he had the urge to kiss his best pal Si.

He said: “I just had to kiss him - I wasn’t being theatrical or anything that’s not me - but it was just like, we’re back, it’s great!”
