CROWDS of hungry customers paid a visit to Barrow’s newest eatery to sample some of the menu’s tastiest dishes.

Monday saw the opening of the town’s latest addition, Coffee Time, which serves an array of breakfast and lunch items.

The Cavendish Street cafe has been launched under the expertise of former restaurateurs Ahmet Demir and Ozlem Korkmaz.

The owners said they welcomed around 50 people through their doors on Monday who all gave positive feedback on the food.

The owners thanked the support of the customers who came in their droves to try out the borough’s newest café.

The opening of the business comes months after the owners closed their popular Turkish restaurant, Izgara, after four years of trade and opened Coffee Time in its place.

Ahmet and Ozlem launched Izgara in December 2018 in an effort to bring a warm slice of the Mediterranean to Barrow’s streets.

Expectant foodies rushed to Cavendish Street to get their first fix of traditional Turkish cuisine.

With 30 years of trade between them, Ahmet and Ozlem decided to launch a takeaway version of Izgara in September following the restaurant’s closure.

The takeaway, known as Izgara Island Express, is located on Ramsden Dock Road and takes deliveries via Barrow Eats.

The takeaway offers a wide variety of traditional Turkish dishes, from grills such as chicken and lamb shish, as well as unique takes on the classics, such as sucuk and mozzarella.

And less than two months since the takeaway’s launch, the owners have opened their newest business venture, Coffee Time.

The café will be open from 9am until 3pm, serving freshly-made goods such as sandwiches, pies, salads, salmon, steak and pasta dishes.

Milkshakes, smoothies, hot beverages and alcohol will also be on sale at the establishment.

The café is open for deliveries with Barrow Eats and available for dining in.
