Cumbria Danny Christie overpowered Darren Godfrey to win his second major bare-knuckle fight in double-quick time.

The Currock boxer floored Godfrey three times in just over a minute of their fight at BKFC Newcastle.

It was enough to seal a first-round victory by technical knock-out (TKO) for the 37-year-old Cumbrian.

And it continued Christie’s successful start to life in the BKFC scene after his victory over Terry Brazier at Wembley Arena in August.

Christie, who was cheered on by a host of supporters from Carlisle at the Walker Activity Dome, took just seconds to send experienced Bristol fighter Godfrey to the canvas with a powerful left hand.

Godfrey fought on in the light heavyweight battle but was downed a second time by another big left-hand shot from Christie.

That was before the 60-second mark and, after Godfrey got up again, Christie went on the attack and once again sent Godfrey down with a short right hand.

That was enough for referee Alan Jackson to call a stop to the fight, interrupting his count to declare the contest over.

Unlike his blood-soaked battle with Brazier, Christie did not give Godfrey the chance to inflict any damage as he wrapped up the fight after just 67 seconds.

The Carlisle man earned praise from BKFC commentators who described the fight as “one-way traffic” in Christie’s favour.

Christie is expected to line up more fights next year as he continues to make his mark on the licensed bare-knuckle scene.
