With CHRISTMAS fast approaching, it is time for people to start planning their family's festive menu. 

Cooking a Christmas Day meal might bring joy for some and a struggle for others. 

If this year you want to avoid making a mess in the kitchen and celebrate Christmas in a different way, here are five suggestions in Barrow which will be serving Christmas menus. 

The Duke of Edinburgh Hotel

Looking for a sophisticated Christmas meal in a luxurious hotel? If so, this hotel located at the heart of Barrow is the place to go.

For the price of £85 per adult and £42,5 per child, you can enjoy a three course meal with amazing options. 

Pan fried scallops, lemon poached fillet of cod and fell bred lamb shank are some of the mouth-watering items available on the menu.

Remember to save room for dessert and try the salted caramel cheesecake or the winter berry panacotta. 

If in case busy on Christmas day, we have good news because a festive menu is available to book from the 25th of November to the 22nd of December. 

A three course meal for the price of £29,50 per person offers meals suitable for everyone.

For the lovers of the traditional Christmas courses, there is the typical roast turkey with creamed mash, pigs in blankets, stuffing, roast potato and pan gravy.

For those intending to give a little twist to their Christmas meal, the butternut squash risotto might be the option to go for. 

A £10 per person deposit is required if you'd like to book a table. 

Fusion @ The Barrow Arms

The Christmas menu here is £75 per person and includes a five course meal. 

Prawn cocktail and Marie Rose sauce, beef, turkey, lamb or nut roast with all the trimming and christmas pudding with brandy sauce are some of the great options on the menu. 

They also offer two different festive menus throughout the whole month of December.

One includes the roast menu for the price of £11,95 for one course, £13,95 for two course, £15,95 for three course and £17,95 for a three course and a glass of wine. 

Unique dishes such as baked salmon fillet glazed with mozzarella, chicken or vegan curry with rice and naan bread are available on the second festive menu.

If you want to spend your Christmas day at the Barrow Arms make sure you do it soon as space is limited. 

Abbey House Hotel

This hotel at the bottom of the South Lakes is available on Christmas day to offer you and your family an incredible festive experience.

For £89 per adult, £49 for children between 6 and 15 years old and £15 per child between 2 and 5 years old, Abbey House Hotel has prepared a 3 course meal with diverse items to choose from. 

Starters include classic prawn cocktail and ham hock and split pea terrine, homemade piccalilli and crispy croutons.

The traditional roast turkey and baked salmon supreme are two of the four mains displayed on the menu.

Vegan and vegetarians can also commemorate their Christmas day in this hotel by enjoying their nut roast with vegan gravy and a vegan christmas pudding.

At the hotel, a special Boxing Day menu is also available for the price of £26,95.

The three course meal includes tasty items such as smoked chicken and apricot terrine, wild mushroom risotto and a local after, Cumbrian cheese's, grape, celery and biscuits. 

The Strawberry

Are you considering spending Christmas at your local pub? The Strawberry at Abbey Road offers a wide selection of food to serve all tastes. 

They will be catering a four course set menu for £47,99.

Grilled salmon, served in a Chardonnay and chive sauce, 8oz sirloin steak topped with crumbled stilton cheese and peppercorn sauce are two of the delicious items that you cannot miss.  

Vegetarians can opt for their nut roast topped with a sticky cranberry glaze. 

Chocolate orange fudge cake and raspeberry trifle cheesecake are some of the festive puds available for you to enjoy. 

Throughout the festive period The Strawberry will have a special December menu with many delicious options, including the indulgent beef burguer, a vegetarian festive burguer which can be made vegan and hunter's turkey.

To book a table, pre-booking is required as well as a deposit of £10 per person. 

The Ferry Hotel

Another hotel is available in Barrow to satisfy your Christmas Day favourites. 

For a bargain of £49,99 per person, this hotel serves a three course meal, including vegetarian and vegan friendly options. 

If you fancy something different, they have tempting dishes such as handmade salmon and king praw wellington and even a plant-based chicken breast made with plant protein. 

Their mouth-watering desserts go from baked vanilla cheesecake to lemon tiramissu and chocolate duo with brownie and profiterole. 

For those with plans for Christmas Day, The Ferry Hotel has also available a festive menu until the 31st of December.

Some of the mains include the festive meat feast pizza, vegan Margherita pizza and the traditional festive carvery.
