TICKETS to watch Furness Bach Choir perform its ‘Sacred and Profane’ concert are now on sale.
On Saturday, December 3, Furness Bach Choir, under their dynamic young conductor Alexander Robinson, will be performing works by Monteverdi, Zelenka and other composers.
A spokeswoman for the choir said: “Come and hear the sacred and secular sides of two of the greatest figures of baroque music – Monteverdi, the father of opera, and Jan Zelenka, the master contrapuntist. Expect a programme full of lyricism as well as super-charged drama – there really is something for everyone.
Australian soprano Daniella Sicari joins conductor Alex Robinson and the period instrument arm of the prestigious Ensemble Laus Deo for an evening of thrilling music. Alex is a freelance conductor based in Manchester. Having gained a first-class music degree at the Royal Northern College of Music, Alex has worked both in the UK and abroad with a number of well-known conductors and ensembles, most recently with English Touring Opera.”
Tickets for the concert can be obtained from Sutton’s Bookshop in Ulverston or by ringing 01229 837680 or 01229 587757. They will also be available on the door. There is free admission for under 18s.
The concert will take place at St James’ Parish Church on Blake Street in Barrow at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £15 including programme.
