POLICE have pledged to work closely with other emergency services in the run up to Bonfire Night.
Mischief Night is the one night a year associated with pulling pranks on friends and family.
It falls on Friday November 4 - a day before Bonfire Night.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: "This period – between Halloween and Bonfire Night – can result in an increase in reporting to the police.
"Officers will be working closely with our colleagues in Cumbria Fire and Rescue, as well as other partner agencies, in the lead up to Bonfire Night, as we work to keep people safe, as well as deter and respond to incidents of antisocial behaviour.
"We would urge people reporting crimes in progress or any type of emergency incident to us direct on 999.
"Non-emergency incidents should be reported online wherever possible, or on our 101 phone line. You can find out more about our online reporting options at http://www.cumbria.police.uk/report-it
"This time of year is not an excuse for antisocial behaviour.
"Cumbria Constabulary will respond swiftly and robustly to any criminality and seek to take appropriate action against those responsible."
