A CAMPAIGN group is appealing for people to send in memories of Grange Baths for a series of events.
Save Grange Lido (SGL) is looking for memories of the former bathing pool.
People are invited to come and share their stories and memories of the baths. The team is keen to hear from anyone who used to swim in Grange or visit the lido, and also anyone who used to work at the pool or was involved in its running.
SGL ise also interested to see photos of Grange Baths alongside newspaper clippings and memorabilia which will be photographed and added to the Grange Lido archive.
The free events will be held at the Victoria Hall in Grange on Friday October 28 from 12pm to 4pm and Saturday November 12 from 12pm to 4pm. There will also be a cafe serving tea and homemade cakes.
Grange open-air swimming pool was opened in 1932 and closed in 1993. Save Grange Lido plans to raise funds for the renovation of the grade II listed pool and operate the facility without the need for council subsidy.
Save Grange Lido started in 2011. The group started as a Facebook page and in January 2019 formed a Community Benefit Society.
South Lakeland District Council is to spend £3 million on the first phase of restoring the buildings. Work is expected to start in late 2022/early 2023.

In August, Save Grange Lido put up a video showing the extent of how much the pool had deteriorated since its closure in 1993.
Morecambe Bay Partnership is a charity which promotes heritage and culture in the area. Its CEO Sarah Mason said at the time: "Let’s get Grange bathing pool open again. It would be a fabulous resource for residents and visitors.
"It was shut when swimming wasn’t popular but that’s changed so let’s change too and bring an existing structure back to life."
