A NEW stall focused on spiritual healing and alternative therapy has swung open its doors.
Jan Costello, a holistic therapist and psychic medium, has launched a stall in Ulverston Market.
The 56-year-old, who lives in Millom, has been practising alternative healing since her early-20s and wanted to bring her wealth of expertise to South Cumbria.
The stall sells a host of products including crystals, oils, crystal balls, jewellery, dreamcatchers, Buddhas and much more.
Jan hopes to eventually open a shop in Ulverston to practise healing and carry out medium sessions to clients.
She said: “I’ve always been an energy healer and always wanted to help people with alternative medicine. Four years ago, I moved to Cumbria and opened a unit in Millom.
“But I felt I wasn’t getting through to enough people. I have a real passion to be able to help people and show them other ways to heal.
“I wanted to find a space where there was more footfall and came across the market. Eventually I am hoping to move into a shop once I’ve established myself a bit more here.
“My goal when moving to Cumbria was to open a shop and help people in their lives.”
Jan, who is originally from Lancashire, said clients approach her with a range of issues including arthritis, high blood pressure and depression.
She said: “I work with people with issues such as anxiety and depression and find alternative therapies that really helps them.
“I also do a lot of workshops as well to help people cope with stress in life and I also run one on women’s empowerment.
“Local people come for healing– I’ve got a really good client-base around Millom.
“People come to me desperately wanting to better their health. Some people come in with arthritis or blood pressure issues and see a difference.
“Healing is using energy currents in the body which can get out of shape and goes to the place in the body it is needed.” The stall is currently open in Ulverston Market.
