TRIBUTES have been paid after the body of a woman was recovered from Walney Channel.

Furness Coastguard and police were notified about the welfare of a person in the North Road area near the coast at Barrow at 3.03am on September 3.

It has since been confirmed the body of a woman in her forties was recovered from the water. 

Cumbria Police, the North West Ambulance Service and Cumbria Fire and Rescue were also in attendance.Police have said there were no suspicious circumstances but a file will be prepared for the coroner.
