A TEEN prodigy is celebrating after retaining third place in the UCI BMX Championships.
12-year-old Emie Seward, from Millom, triumphed alongside some of the world’s best UCI BMX riders at the World Championships in Nantes, France, retaining her third-place title.
Proud dad Kevin Seward, 45, praised his superstar daughter for her continuous achievement and drive to succeed.
The bathroom and kitchen fitter tutor said: “Me, my wife, and our whole family are so proud of her. She has worked hard and trains massively through the season and off-season.
“Every day she is training whether that’s on the bike or going down the gym and doing sprints, she is training at least three times a week.
“She is just brilliant.
“It makes me really proud how much she has achieved at such a young age and for sticking at it.”
Emie first got into BMX at the age of three years old and competed in her first competition at the age of four following in her brother, Jaden’s footsteps who shares her status as a BMX prodigy.
Mr Seward said: “She rides for Blackpool BMX club so does most of the training there. A lot of traveling is involved as it takes almost an hour and a half to get there.
“Her life is so hectic she never stops. We are constantly traveling around Europe, but it is all worth it.
“The world championships is obviously a big event. She has the national and British championships coming up. It’s a very busy summer for us all.
“As a parent, it is an amazing feeling seeing your daughter on the presentation stage, words can’t describe it.
Emie has already started her future career in the world of BMX, becoming the youngest ever girl ever to be picked for the British cycling, Regional School of Racing.
