A new Peter Rabbit Musical Adventure Happy Birthday Peter Rabbit promises theatrical magic for children this summer in Bowness.

Following its world premiere on 18 June, the much-anticipated family musical adventure Happy Birthday Peter Rabbit will be performed up to three shows every day until 4 September at the Old Laundry Theatre in Bowness.

The musical is by Roger Glossop with lyrics by Alan Ayckbourn and music by Richard Reeday.

The show is aimed at families and will feature songs including an anthem for Peter Rabbit himself. The production is a combination of live performances, songs, staging and puppets that stay faithful to Beatrix Potter's original illustrations.

The cast of six actors is Dillon Burgess, Naomi Bynon, Louise Cowling, Sophie Ellicot, Daniel Hird and Tilly Smith. Together they bring to life the much-loved characters from Beatrix Potter’s books including the ferocious Mr McGregor, the scheming Mr Tod, the disagreeable Tommy Brock, the headstrong and foolish Jemima and the mischievous Peter Rabbit.

It is called Happy Birthday Peter Rabbit because it marks the 120-year-anniversary of the character. The Tale of Peter Rabbit was published by Beatrix Potter in 1902.

The original tale has sold over 46 million copies globally and has been published in 48 languages including Braille and Hieroglyphics.
