NEARLY £1,000 was donated to an Ulverston hospice thanks to the kind-hearted donations of festival-goers.

Staff at St Mary’s Hospice were ‘delighted’ to receive a donation of £984 from Another Fine Fest organiser, Dave Crossley.

Mr Crossley gave nearly £1,000 each to his two chosen charities: Ulverston Food Project and St Mary’s Hospice thanks to the fundraising efforts of those attending Another Fine Fest.

Thousands of people gathered in the town of Ulverston on Saturday, June 18 and Sunday, June 19 to enjoy the festival.

The weekend saw Ulverston erupt into a multicoloured feast of live music, DJs, circus, street theatre, live street art, window painting, yarnbombing, stand up comedy, spoken word, interactive workshops and a new world record attempt.

The twice world-record-breaking Another Fine Fest rocked the cobbles with the seventh instalment of the free multi-arts festival where revellers celebrate until the sun goes down.

The team at St Mary's Hospice took to the bustling streets of Ulverston with buckets to collect donations.

A spokesman for the hospice said: “On Thursday we were delighted to receive a visit from Dave Crossley, one of our amazing supporters and the man behind Another Fine Fest which is a free festival in Ulverston consisting of everything under the sun - live music, comedy, circus acts, magic, street theatre and graffiti and window art!

“Every year Dave donates a generous amount of the profits to charity and this year he chose to donate to St Mary's Hospice and Ulverston Food Project, a charity aimed at reducing food waste and the environmental impact it creates. We were given the pleasure to meet Lindon, a representative from the food project on Thursday.

“Dave has donated an amazing £984 from this year's event to St Mary's Hospice.
