HAIRY Biker Dave Myers has opened up about his ongoing battle with cancer after his diagnosis earlier this year.
He has said that it is going well but it has taught him to "embrace life" that he had previously taken for granted.
While his on-screen partner and long-term friend Si King described him as a "proper Barra' lad" who was "hard as nails".
Speaking to Kate Thornton on her podcast White Wine Question Time, Myers discussed the 'trenches' of cancer and said King had been helping him through it.
Myers said: "We first met in 1992, so there has been a lot of personal stuff.
"Even now, I am going through treatment for cancer, but it is a different chapter and it affects both of us."
He explained there had been difficult times in their relationship but they always looked out for each other when times got tough, describing each other as 'family'.
He said: "We have to keep the business going, there has been rough times for both of us and when one of us has been unable to work, the other has stepped in to fill the breach."
On his cancer diagnosis, Myers kept a positive tone.
He said: "Three months ago, my life took a strange, bizarre turn. I went to the doctors complaining of strange bits and bobs and the next thing I knew, I got a phone call that it was a tumour and had to have chemotherapy.
"Fortunately, the chemotherapy is working but it is the effect that it has on you."
He described that his eyes were sore after his eyelashes had fallen out - "It's crap like that which is really irritating.
"When I get through this, I will never whinge again about anything, I will embrace life and everything it has to offer. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy."
The TV chef said he had been reminiscing by watching previous episodes of the Hairy Bikers.
"Trying to get my appetite back", he said. "Garlic - I can't eat it. Onions, I can't. Smells are really acute. It's all gone belly-up."
