A WELLBEING group has been hard at work on its community garden and other crafts.
The Bay: A Blueprint for Recovery is a two-year project which works across the Morecambe Bay area to tackle mental health issues after the pandemic.
In their Barrow nature and wellbeing sessions, they have been working on a community garden on Barrow Island, removing some of the bracken with deep roots and starting to develop a No Dig Garden area.
The No Dig method is a good way to prevent weeds from growing back and use fresh compost to grow the different plants in the sensory area that is being developed.
They have also hosted taster groups – one for NHS and one for Furness Carers. The NHS staff went down to Biggar Bank and discovered what they could find on our shoreline, completed mindful activities and a friendly beach art competition.
Furness Carers got to discover the rockpools at Earnse Bay, where they found common starfish, brittle star, sea slugs and much more.
They then also had a beach art competition, moulding an animal that they had found in the rockpools out of different materials you find on the beach.
