A BARROW reception class has raised a huge amount of money for an endangered animal.
Reception pupils from Chetwynde School on Rating Lane have raised £406 for the snow leopard after learning about them in class.
The children took part in a bake sale with themed aniamal cupcakes and sweet treats and dressed up as their favourite animal for their 'Wear it Wild day' where they recieved lots of donations.
Head of early years foundation stage and key stage one Katie Stepanian said all the pupils enjoyed the day and have completed a massive achievement.
She said: "The class chose to raise money for the snow leopard as part of their learning about endangered animals, based on a core text A-Z of Endangered Animals.
"The children found about different animals that are endangered and some of the reasons why they become endangered. They learnt that if the animals all die out they are extinct. The children created their own animal stories about endangered animals, using their knowledge to form the story, including poaching and deforestation.
"The class came up with lots of different endangered animals that they had been learning about and then had a vote to choose the animal to raise money for.
"The class raised the money via donations for dressing up and with a cake sale - lots of animal themed cakes.
"We raised £406 in total which is a massive achievement for the class."
