A COASTGUARD team rushed to the rescue of a person stuck in mud.
Furness Coastguard was paged yesterday (May 25) evening after receiving reports that a person was stuck in mud in the Walney Channel, close to the Dock Museum.
Due to the incoming tide, the team requested support from Barrow Lifeboat and Millom Coastguard Rescue Team.
According to a spokesman from the team, on arrival, they discovered the person had managed to free themselves and had made their way back up the ladder onto the walk way.
The person was assessed by the team and was then handed over to the North West Ambulance Service.
A Furness Coastguard spokesman said: “If in danger around the coast, or one of the four main navigable lakes, Windermere, Coniston, Ullswater or Derwentwater call 999 and ask for the coastguard.”
