AN angry customer has vowed to never return to Burger King again after eating a ‘disgusting’ meal which he feared may have contained maggots.
Rob Morgan returned from a round-trip from Barrow to Kendal to take his daughter to hydrotherapy treatment on Friday night when he decided to treat himself to a takeaway.
The 40-year-old visited the Hindpool Retail Park site and ordered a £4.99 barbeque burger meal to take away from Burger King.
After taking the first bite, the stay-at-home dad noticed a strange taste in the flavour.
“I thought it doesn’t taste right,” he said.
“It tasted rank – it was like cardboard. I opened it up and saw there was loads of little holes inside. It was like something had been in it.
“I’m not one to complain but every person I’ve shown it to has said how disgusting it is.
“My partner Sarah is studying to be a chef and she thinks the burger has had maggots in it.”
Mr Morgan thinks Environmental Health should pay a visit to the eatery to prevent any more dissatisfactory meals.
“If they’d given this meal to my daughter Mia I’d have been absolutely fuming. It’s not right,” he said.
“That’s only the second time I’ve ever been there.
“Even the chips and coke tasted funny – it was like it had been out for hours.”
Mr Morgan has vowed to never return to the fast-food restaurant after the experience.
“I will never ever go back there again in my life,” he said.
“And I will make sure my friends and family never go there again.
“It was just absolutely awful.
“I’ll stick to McDonald’s from now on.”
A spokesman for Burger King said: “We have been made aware of the alleged incident that occurred at the Barrow-in-Furness Burger King restaurant.
“Food safety and hygiene are a top priority at Burger King restaurants and we are working to ensure all necessary measures are carried out to maintain a clean and safe environment for our guests.
“We are investigating this matter as a priority and appropriate action will be taken.”
