PATIENTS in Ulverston having to travel to hospitals in Barrow or Kendal will be able to undergo x-ray imaging closer to home thanks to the handover of equipment.
University of Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust has given new x-ray equipment to Ulverston Health Centre in Stanley Street.
The x-ray equipment will allow the morning open access GP service to be resumed as soon as possible and provide easier access for Ulverston and South Lakes patients.
Leanne Cooper, interim chief operating officer, University of Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, said: "The Trust is pleased to announce the handover of the new Siemens DR X-Ray equipment for Ulverston Health Centre.
“The updated equipment will provide high quality images as well as providing access to diagnostics for the local community.
"The equipment was handed over to the Trust this week and once full training has taken place, it will allow the morning open access GP service to be resumed as soon as possible.
“Currently patients are having to travel to Furness General Hospital or Westmorland General Hospital for imaging and the opening of the Ulverston service will provide easier access for Ulverston and South Lakes patients."
